“Eldorado Resorts, the owner of the Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park, has formed a 50-50 joint venture with the Cordish Cos. to redevelop the 223-acre property with a mixed-use project.

Plans for the property, at 777 Isle of Capri Circle, include new retail, restaurants, entertainment, a corporate office campus, residential and a hotel. The specific details of the project were not disclosed, but the announcement said the new buildings would complement the existing harness racing track and casino.

Cari Furman, a spokesperson for Baltimore-based Cordish, said there would be no comment beyond the news release. The private company, which dates back to 1910, has worked on projects such as the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casinos in Hollywood and Tampa, and Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

‘We are proud to partner with Eldorado Resorts on this exciting new development,’ Cordish Cos. Chairman David Cordish said. ‘Eldorado Resorts is one of the premier gaming and entertainment companies in the country. Together we are committed to delivering a unique mixed-use development that creates thousands of new jobs for the city of Pompano and South Florida, provides new amenities and attractions to the local population, and attracts substantial new visitation to the region. I plan personally to spend significant time on the ground working to bring the development to fruition.’

Officials with Reno, Nevada-based Eldorado (Nasdaq: ERI) couldn’t be reached for comment. It acquired the Pompano Beach property when it purchased Isle of Capri Casinos and its 13 casino resort properties for $1.7 billion in 2016. ‘The Cordish Cos. is one of the leading developers of high-profile, mixed-use destinations in the country and has a level of expertise that is unmatched,’ Eldorado Resorts CEO Gary Carano said. ‘This development is an incredible opportunity to complement our existing gaming and racing facilities on the site and will become a vibrant destination for visitors to South Florida.’”

(NASDAQ:ERI) reported that Hotel Casino Management, Inc. has picked up 5,118,461 of common stock as of 2017-03-17.

The acquisition brings the aggregate amount owned by Hotel Casino Management, Inc. to a total of 5,118,461 representing a 10.86% stake in the company.

For those not familiar with the company, Eldorado Resorts, Inc. (ERI) is a gaming and hospitality company. The Company owns and operates gaming facilities located in Ohio, Louisiana, Nevada, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The Company’s segments include Nevada, Louisiana and Eastern. A glance at Eldorado Resorts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERI)’s key stats reveals a current market capitalization of 843.07 Million based on 47.12 Million shares outstanding and a price at last close of $19.00 per share.

Looking at insider activity, there are a few transactions worth noting.

Specifically, on 2017-03-14, Wagner picked up 1,744 at a purchase price of $18.70. This brings their total holdings to 142,000 as of the date of the filing.

On the sell side, the most recent transaction saw Hotel unload 162,321 shares at a sale price of $13.49. This brings their total holding to 5,518,461.

It’s possible to gauge a company’s potential by tracking the activity of its major holders, as well as checking in on insider activity such as those transactions listed above. We’ll be keeping an eye on Eldorado Resorts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERI) as things move forward to see if its progress aligns with these transactions.”

INTERESTING NOTE: We were told by the management of Vernon Downs that Mr. Jeff Gural owns Scioto Downs, but we contacted Scioto management and were told that is not true.

It is interesting: CBC News · Posted: Mar 16, 2012, Ontario Lottery and Gaming announcement that it will end its slot machine contract with racetracks — including Sudbury Downs. Then Feb 23, 2017, Jake Pastore, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.’s director of municipal and community relations, said Wednesday that Gateway is in a 120 to 180-day transition period right now as it prepares to move in. It appears that the track was shut down because of gambling and now will reopen as a gambling casino with no horse racing.
